Gome Restructures to Strengthen E-commerce Business

On March 5, Chinese home appliance and consumer electronics retailer Gome (0493.HK) announced that it would implement a new organizational structure with the aim of increasing the company's investment in e-commerce. The change will include adjustments to senior management organizational structure, integration of the company's supply chain, and the addition of new service units.
At the senior management level, Wang Junzhou will continue as president of the company, and Fang Wei will continue as Gome's CFO. Wei Qiuli will be appointed senior VP for personnel and administration; Li Juntao will be appointed SVP in charge of operational systems; Mou Gui will serve as SVP for information and logistics and as general manger of Gome's online subsidiary; and Zou Xiaochun will be named Gome SVP for legal services and logistics base development. He Yangqing will be named VP in charge of operations and member services for Gome's customer service and retail outlets, while Shi Ming will be VP in charge of the company's after-sales services, pricing, and retail business division.
Su Xianhua, former general manager for the Northern China region, will be named senior VP in charge of sourcing and sales. Former East China region GM Mao Xiaojun will be named VP in charge of Gome's communications and computers & electronics divisions. Shang Mingquan, former GM of Beijing-based Dazhong Electronics, will serve as VP in charge of Gome's television and white goods divisions.
Wang Junzhou said that Gome had developed a dual-brand strategy through its online mall (gome.com.cn) and Coo8.com. Wang predicted that the new restructuring would lead to 150% increases in shared efficiency for Gome's procurement, logistics, information, and services, and said that Gome had set a market share goal of 15% of China's e-commerce market by 2014.
