Rumor: China to Introduce New Consumer Electronics Subsidies

21st Century Business Herald, 1/06/12

China's Ministry of Commerce will reportedly announce a new consumer electronics government subsidy policy to prevent a drop in sales as the "Old for New" and "Appliances to the Countryside" initiatives come to an end. The plan could involve an extension of "Old for New" measures, or bundle "Old for New" policies with low-income home buyer policies.

Xu Dongsheng, secretary of the China Household Electrical Appliances Association (CHEAA), said that the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) is also considering energy efficiency subsidies.
