Shanda's Shineshow to Produce Short Films in 2012
Ccidnet, 12/20/11
Chinese online media and game operator Shanda Interactive (Nasdaq: SNDA) has announced that Shineshow, its film and TV production joint venture with Hunan Broadcasting System predecessor Golden Eagle Broadcasting System (GBS), will focus on celebrity short films in 2012. Shineshow's development strategy aims for the release of one short film each week with the goal of gradually becoming China's biggest short film producer.
Shineshow's short films will emphasize content originality and an interactive process. Shineshow's three previously released short films were viewed over 10 mln times.
In regard to the celebrity aspect of the short films, Shineshow will focus on music celebrities using a fan-fiction production model. In this model, members of the public will be able to use sources such as microblogs to write potential scenarios for the films, with the final selections performed by fans' favorite singers.
Shineshow has reached a strategic cooperation agreement with several groups, including film and TV production firm Huayi Brothers (300027.SZ), Leroy Entertainment, and Seed Music, whereby in the future they will pool resources to promote having multiple performing artists create different short films.
