Xilinx Opens Beijing R&D Center
Xilinx, 12/13/11
San Jose-based fabless semiconductor company Xilinx today announced the opening of its new facility in Beijing. The new facility will include an R&D center and will consolidate its local sales, marketing and application engineering operations into a single site. The new 20,000 square-foot facility will support local, regional and multi-national customers.
Xilinx's new R&D team in Beijing will focus on software-related design activities as part of Xilinx's Programmable Platforms Development group, a global organization responsible for development and delivery of the company's flagship programmable platforms.
Xilinx senior vice president and Asia Pacific executive leader, Vincent Tong, stated, "As part of its 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015), China is working hard to become a global R&D hub and to better serve the needs of its population and the global marketplace. We at Xilinx are similarly committed to our goal of being the primary innovation platform for Chinese electronics system designers. To that end, we have embarked on our own multi-year plan that leverages breakthrough technology in programmable systems integration and accelerated design productivity."
