IM 2.0 Launches Social Product Recommendation Site

Beijing-based new media marketing firm IM 2.0 Interactive today launched a social product recommendation platform, Zhimei.com. A mobile application is due out in early 2012.
Zhimei.com allows users to recommend and share their favorite products in a "photo album" format. Users can log into the site using their Tencent (0700.HK), Sina (Nasdaq: SINA) Weibo, and Renren (NYSE: RENN) credentials. The site operates independently from IM 2.0, and will eventually incorporate users' mobile phonebooks and LBS functionality. Jin Xing, the manager of Zhimei.com, formerly oversaw Tencent's Tenpay third-party payment platform.
IM 2.0 was established by former Renren VP Wang Xiujuan in 2008, and has raised tens of millions of RMB in two rounds of funding.
