Meituan Appoints New Shanghai Channel GM

Chinese group buy site Meituan has appointed Yao Juntao as the new GM of its Shanghai channel. Wang Yang, Meituan's former GM for the Shanghai region, has moved to competitor 55Tuan.

Meituan VP Wang Huiwen said that sales on the Shanghai channel reached RMB 9.13 mln, RMB 8.99 mln, and RMB 8.47 mln in April, May, and June respectively. As of July 27, Meituan Shanghai had processed RMB 10.54 mln in sales.

55Tuan CEO Xu Rongdong said yesterday that in addition to Wang Yang, more than 100 former Meituan employees, including Shanghai municipal GMs Gao Shixing and Liu Ning, Hefei GM Yang Zheng, Wuhan deputy GM Zhou Shiguang, and national sales champion Xie Jiantao, had joined 55Tuan.
