China's H1 2011 Radio & TV Revenue Up 22% YoY

Revenue from China's radio and TV industry rose 22.2% YoY to RMB 101.97 bln in H1 2011. Revenue from advertising rose 22.9% YoY to RMB 53.77 bln, while revenue from cable TV networks rose 15.9% YoY to RMB 24.97 bln. Other revenues rose 28% YoY to RMB 23.23 bln.
Advertising revenue included RMB 5.36 bln from radio advertising, up 24.3% YoY, RMB 46.43 bln from TV advertising, up 21.9% YoY, and RMB 1.98 bln from other forms of advertising, up 48.7% YoY.
Revenue from cable TV networks include RMB 1.67 bln from monthly subscription fees, up 15.2% YoY, RMB 1.87 bln from DTV premium programming fees, up RMB 585 mln or 45.5% YoY, and RMB 6.38 bln from other cable TV fees, up 11.1% YoY.
As of the end of June 2011, China had 200 mln cable TV users, adding 11.28 mln since the end of 2010. 98.61 mln were cable DTV subscribers, adding 9.91 mln since the end of 2010, while the number of DTV premium programming users increased by 2.32 mln to reach 13.37 mln.
