eLong Down for Repairs Following 26-Hour Website Crash

Netease Tech, 7/14/11

After its website went down for 26 hours earlier this week, online travel service provider eLong (Nasdaq: LONG) temporarily suspended operations from midnight on July 13 through to 7 AM July 14. eLong said that the 7 hours of downtime were used for system upgrades and maintenance, and that the website and its call center were also closed for the duration.

The eLong website became inaccessible on the afternoon of June 11. eLong CEO Cui Guangfu said that problems originated in the website's memory storage system, which technical staff have been working non-stop to remedy. Service for the eLong website was temporarily restored by the afternoon of July 12.
