People's Daily Rebrands Online Search Engine

People's Daily-operated Chinese search engine Goso.cn announced in Beijing today that it has rebranded as Jike.com.

Visitors to the Goso.cn domain name are automatically redirected to Jike.com, which features the new Jike logo.

Jike also announced that it has begun using a new technology platform to power its online search engine. Liu Jun, chief scientist of Jike.com, said the new platform utilizes a redesigned search architecture composed of nearly 1 mln lines of code. Development of the new platform began in July 2010.

Liu added that Jike will continue R&D of online search technology, and that Jike received resumes from tens of thousands of applicants last year, only a small fraction of whom were hired.
