China Relaxes Online Mapping JV Requirements

Sina Tech, 6/03/11

China's National Administration of Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformation (NASMG) announced yesterday that under new revisions to China's online mapping regulations, overseas companies such as Google that wish to engage in mapping-related services in China must still form a joint venture with a domestic partner, but the Chinese partner is no longer required to hold a majority stake. The language of the new provisional regulations state that the overseas investor's stake in any mapping-related joint venture cannot exceed 50%.
