China Telecom Selects Coowin to Distribute Motorola 3G Smartphone

China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) has authorized Beijing-based handset distributor Coowin Communication Technology, a subsidiary of Chinese national wholesale handset distributor Shenzhen Aisidi Industry (002416.SZ), to distribute China Telecom and Motorola Mobility's new 3G dual-mode smartphone MOTO XT882 in China.
Coowin will procure the smartphones and sell them directly to retail outlets, with Chinese home appliance and consumer electronics retailer Gome (0493.HK) to be the first retailer to offer the new Motorola CDMA2000 EV-DO smartphone.
Ma Daojie, head of China Telecom's terminal management center, disclosed that in the future China Telecom plans to distribute more operator-customized products through third-party handset distributors.
