Phoenix New Media Launches New Online Video Strategy

Wireless and TV new media company Phoenix New Media (PNM) (NYSE: FENG), a subsidiary of Phoenix TV (2008.HK), held its first video strategy press conference in Beijing on May 18. During the press conference, PNM launched its new video strategy titled "Project Fengming," which entails establishing an online viewing, aggregation, and distribution platform for news and information videos.
PNM will cooperate with approximately 400 TV stations and streaming media production organizations to purchase professionally produced programs, and work with approximately 2,000 part-time video reporters to compile first-hand video news. PNM will also deliver and distribute content to TV stations and SNS websites.
PNM will obtain video content from more diverse sources as its video content originally came from its parent company Phoenix TV. The company has been working together with partners such as BBC to build a documentary database, which will contain approximately 20,000 hours of documentaries by the end of 2011. In addition, PNM will self-produce premium video programs under the brand name of "Phoenix Original."
