Spreadtrum Q1 2011 Profit Up 317% YoY

Chinese wireless baseband chipset provider Spreadtrum Communications (Nasdaq: SPRD) today announced its unaudited financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2011. Total revenue increased 8.3% QoQ and 163.0% YoY to USD 137.1 mln, exceeding the company's previous guidance range of USD 130 mln to 135 mln.
Net income rose 316.7% YoY to reach USD 27.5 mln.
In Q1 2011, sales volume of 2G/2.5G baseband and radio frequency bundle semiconductors increased 5.7% QoQ and 270.1% YoY. Sales volume of 3G bundle semiconductors increased 33.1% QoQ and 168.2% YoY.
In Q1 2011, the average selling price per unit of 2G/2.5G bundle semiconductors decreased 3.6% QoQ and 21.1% YoY. The average selling price per unit of 3G bundle semiconductors decreased 9.4% QoQ and 49.7% YoY.
For Q2 2011, the company expects revenue to be in the range of USD 152 mln to USD 158 mln.
