China Mobile Q1 2011 Profit Up 5.4% YoY

China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) has announced its unaudited financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2011, with revenue up 8.3% YoY to reach RMB 118.17 bln.
Net income attributable to shareholders rose 5.4% YoY to reach 26.86 bln.
China Mobile's total customer base reached 600.84 mln as of the end of Q1 2011, with 16.82 mln net additional customers for the quarter, up 2.9% QoQ. ARPU fell 11.8% QoQ from RMB 76 to RMB 67. Average minutes of usage per user per month (MOU) fell 1.3% QoQ from 524 to 517. Average revenue per minute of usage fell 10.3% QoQ to RMB 0.13. Total voice usage volume for the first quarter of 2011 increased by 13.8% YoY and fell less than 1% QoQ to 906.1 bln minutes.
The number of value-added business users rose 5% QoQ to 549.25 mln. The number of MMS users rose 5.3% QoQ to 170.01 mln. The number of mobile music users rose 3.5% QoQ to 476.44 mln. SMS usage volume rose 4.4% QoQ and 3.3% YoY to 184.1 mln messages.
