China Telecom to Open 10,000 3G Handset Tutorial Counters

At the CDMA2000 Handset Design & Development Industry Alliance meeting held by China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) in Qingdao on April 15, 2011, China Telecom announced its "3G Shouji Fudao Zhan Jihua" (3G Handset Instruction Center Plan). China Telecom intends to open 10,000 3G mobile application instruction counters, which will provide services to users of China Telecom's 3G products for the full lifetime of the product.
China Telecom plans to post part-time or full-time 3G handset tutors at its after-sales service and warranty counters to teach users about 3G applications and allow users to test drive handset functions and 3G mobile applications at no additional charge. China Telecom's 10000 directory service number, together with the instruction counters will together provide users with both online and offline assistance.
China Telecom also plans to provide training to more than 20,000 after-sales service personnel.
China Telecom currently has mobile phone repair centers in Shanghai, Beijing, Jiangsu, Hubei, Guangxi, and Hainan that specialize in after-sales service and repair for China Telecom operator-customized handsets. To date, China Telecom has more than 9,000 repair counters covering cities through the country and extending into major county-level towns.
