Tencent Tech, 4/14/11
People's Daily-operated Chinese search engine Goso.cn has confirmed that former Google China senior executive Wang Jiang has joined Goso as deputy general manager, but would not reveal Wang's specific responsibilities. Goso also declined to specify how Wang's role would differ from that of former Google China Research Institute deputy director Institute Liu Jun, who joined in February 2011. Goso did add that the company has been continuously recruiting and its ranks have swelled to more than 150. Wang worked alongside Innovation Works chairman Kai-fu Lee at Google China for many years, and later was responsible for technology-related matters at Innovation Works.
In response to rumors that Goso has shifted its core strategic focus from news search to web search, the company said that it is constantly evolving, and will reveal changes to its development plans by the end of this year.
