Shanda Releases Group Buy Directory Site
Tencent Tech, 4/05/11
Chinese online media provider and online game operator Shanda Interactive (Nasdaq: SNDA) has released its own group buy directory site Tuanyouhui ("Group Discount", tuan.sdo.com). The site is based on partnerships with several group buy sites, including Lashou, Meituan, Digutuan, and Beijing-based holding company Oak Pacific Interactive subsidiary Nuomi.
Tuanyouhui currently offers service to more than a hundred medium- and large-sized cities across China, with listings including food and restaurant options, leisure and entertainment, high-end e-commerce goods, and lifestyle services. The site offers packages tailored for groups of 50-100, 100-200, 200-500 and 500 and above.
Tuanyouhui doesn't provide group buy services itself, instead featuring offers from Lashou, Meituan, Digutuan, Nuomi and Manzuo, among others. Users will be able to share group buy information to their individual Tencent (0700.HK) Qzone, Sina (Nasdaq: SINA) "Weibo" microblog and Kaixin001 and Renren SNS accounts.
An industry insider has suggested that a roll-out of Tuanyouhui has already been pending for three months, during which time the project has been overseen by Shanda business cooperation center director Ma Haiping; moving forward, maintenance and promotion for Tuanyouhui will reportedly be handled by the Shanda Research Institute.
