Netease Tech, 3/22/11
Wu Kainan, founder of wedding services booking site Marry10.com, made a joint announcement today with Taishan Invest AG of the latter's angel investment in Beijing Xishi Fengshang Technology, the operator of Marry10.com. Wu formerly oversaw holiday travel operations for online travel company Ctrip.com (Nasdaq: CTRP).
Marry10's core business is in providing domestic and international wedding reception and ceremony reservation services to soon-to-be-married couples. Following the company's founding, Marry10 began marketing destination wedding packages, building on this to establish its current one-stop online platform which offers wedding news, consulting and planning services.
Marry10's preparations for the launch of its wedding reception reservation services began in the second half of 2010. According to the site, Marry10 signed contracts with over a hundred hotels offering wedding reception services within two months of its official launch, and provided reception reservation services to more than 1,100 newlywed couples during this time.
As for plans for expansion over the next few years, Wu said the company's future emphasis will be on replicating its success at the city level. The company plans to launch operations in several cities with active wedding markets before the end of the year.
Taishan Invest AG is now working to help Marry10 secure first-round funding within the near future, expected to reach several million US dollars.
