Dangdang Q4 2010 Profit Down 33% YoY

Chinese B2C e-commerce site Dangdang (NYSE: DANG) today announced its unaudited financial reports for the fourth quarter and full year ended December 31, 2010 with total net revenue for the quarter up 58.7% YoY to RMB 710.9 mln. Total net revenue for the full year also grew 56.5% YoY to RMB 2.28 bln.
Net income for the quarter decreased 33.2% YoY to RMB 14.8 mln. Net income for the full year increased 82.0% YoY to RMB 30.8 mln.
Media product revenues for Q4 2010 were RMB 541.4 mln, representing a 41.8% increase from the corresponding period in 2009. General merchandise revenues for Q4 2010 were RMB 155.9 mln, representing a 151.2% increase from the corresponding period in 2009. Other revenue including revenues from third-party merchants for Q4 2010 were RMB 13.6 mln, representing a 220.9% increase from the corresponding period in 2009.
Dangdang had about 4.4 mln active customers in Q4 2010, representing a 47.3% increase from the corresponding period in 2009. Total orders for Q4 2010 were approximately 8.7 mln, a 33.5% increase from the corresponding period in 2009.
Media product revenues for the full year 2010 were RMB 1.86 bln, representing a 43.7% increase from 2009. General merchandise revenues in 2010 were RMB 392.1 mln, representing a 156.3% increase from 2009. Other revenue including revenues from third-party merchants in 2010 were RMB 26.2 mln, representing a 246.2% increase from 2009.
Dangdang had about 8.6 mln active customers in 2010, representing a 43.9% increase from 2009. 65.8% of the active customers in 2009 made a purchase on the website in 2010. Total orders in 2010 were approximately 29.4 mln, a 33.7% increase from 2009.
Dangdang expects its total net revenues in the first quarter of 2011 to be in the range of RMB 673.0 mln to RMB 681.0 mln, representing year-over-year growth in the range of 50% to 52%.
