Netease Tech, 2/25/11
China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) today formally launched the new version of its E-Surfing e-commerce store HiCDMA.com, along with the site's E-Surfing Workshop ("Gongfang") handset customization channel.
HiCDMA.com is China Telecom's official e-commerce site offering E-Surfing terminals and accessories, including handsets, 3G data cards, 3G netbooks, and accessories. The new site has channels for handset customization, handsets, data cards, accessories, SIM cards, and E-Surfing forums, as well as optimized faceted search functionality. In addition, the site also has a social networking service that features specialized Q&A sections for various handset makers, including Motorola, Samsung, Dopod, Coolpad, Hisense, LG, and Huawei.
E-Surfing Workshop allows users to personalize their handset shell in three steps and receive the finished product in five working days. Customization allows users to select from a number of styles and themes, or upload their own template or image. China Telecom has signed agreements with a number of designers who will assist customers in personalizing their handset design.
The E-Surfing Workshop will also launch a "Design Supermarket" where anyone can sell their own handset shell designs and receive a revenue share of every purchase. Details of the revenue share have not yet been finalized.
