Chinese Industry Veterans Found Mobile Ad Firm
DoNews, 2/15/11
Zhang He, former president of Chinese online video platform Joy.cn, has helped co-found mobile internet advertising platform Domob.cn, and will serve as COO of the new start-up. The remaining three co-founders previously held positions at Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU), Joyo Amazon, and China Mobile's (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) mobile SNS 139.com.
Zhang left his position at Joy.cn at the beginning of August, 2010. Over 20 employees resigned from Joy.cn in the wake of Zhang's departure, including vice-president Chen Zhihua, who has since become vice-president of internet portal iFeng, operated by Phoenix TV (2008.HK) subsidiary Phoenix New Media. Zhang had formerly been employed as vice-president of sales at Chinese wireless value-added service provider Linktone (Nasdaq: LTON), and as director of Sohu's (Nasdaq: SOHU) wireless business unit.
Domob.cn, operated by Beijing-based Duomeng Zhisheng Network Technology, was founded in September 2010. The management team includes CEO Qi Yujie, a former senior technology director at Baidu; vice-president of platform operations Bian Jiageng, a former director of information technology at Joyo Amazon who also developed mobile gaming and news platforms for China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK); and vice-president of technology Wang Pengyun, former director of the development team at 139.com operator 139 Mobile Internet Information Services (Beijing) Co., Ltd.
