Dangdang to Expand Second-Hand Books C2C Platform
Sina Tech, 2/14/11
Chinese B2C e-commerce site Dangdang (NYSE: DANG) is currently considering means of expanding access to its second-hand book C2C e-commerce platform, including lowering requirements for sellers, expanding payment options, adding book search functionality, and diversifying its selection of applications.
Currently, Dangdang's second-hand book platform is undergoing open testing, and is available only to diamond card members, the site's most trusted merchants. Gold card members and ordinary members are prohibited from selling books on the platform. Members of all types, however, may purchase books.
Existing procedures allow qualified members to sell used books with no processing fees. The books are simply registered via a book sales management interface accessible from the seller's "My Dangdang" screen. Buyers can log in via the search results page, or the used book channel's homepage.
Second-hand prices on books will appear when users browse products by book category, and when book results are returned in a search. Product descriptions for used books include information on the book's age and price, purchasing instructions, the seller's location, and shipping options.
