Baidu's Document Sharing Site to Face IPR Lawsuits

Zhang Hongbo, deputy director-general of the China Written Works Copyright Society (CWWCS), said on January 21 that the CWWCS and others will pursue both civil and criminal cases against Chinese internet company Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) for its Baidu Wenku document-sharing service.

CWWCS will apply the new Opinions on the Handling of Criminal Cases Involving Intellectual Property Infringement recently promulgated by the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuratorate, and the Ministry of Public Security in filing suit "at the appropriate time" against Baidu.
