Musicians Sue Baidu for MP3 Piracy

13-Month Records and 27 musicians and artists joined together yesterday to send a legal notice to Chinese internet company Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) in which 13-Month CEO Lu Zhongqiang said that his record label had collected and notarized evidence of copyright infringement on 137 of its songs by Baidu's MP3 search engine. Lu said that the label's 27 artists would sue for RMB 50,000 in damages per title, for total damages of RMB 6.85 mln.

Baidu responded by asking to see evidence of infringement.
