3G.cn: Android, Symbian Compete for Mid-Priced Terminals
The Beijing News, 12/21/10
Chinese mobile internet portal 3G.cn released its "2011 White Paper on Mobile User Experience" in Beijing recently. The white Paper found that competition between the Symbian and Android mobile operating systems was concentrated mainly in terminals in the RMB 2,000-3,000 price range, as hardware performance limitations, weak compatibility, low processor speed, and other factors make Symbian clearly less competitive than Android in handsets priced above RMB 3,000.
Zhang Lei, director of 3G.cn's software services center, said that from an analysis of backend data on 3G.cn's 140 mln registered users, the site has seen month-on-month growth of up to 200% among Android users, and a corresponding slowdown in Symbian growth.
