Chinese Goverment Starts Online Game Inspections
Tencent Tech, 12/14/10
China's Ministry of Culture recently sent out a notice regarding the implementation of its Interim Regulations for Online Game Management, announcing that it had resolved to set up a dedicated review task force to review the state of implementation from December 2010 to March 2011.
The Ministry called on all of its subordinate agencies to focus on review of major companies and issues that had been the subject of individual or group gamer reports, and to either order companies found to be in violation of the Regulations to reform their practices within a given period or to pass the cases to the acting authorities at the MoC's Department of Culture Markets for review and ruling. In March 2011, the MoC will review violations found either as the result of self-review by online gaming companies or as the result of administrative investigations, and engage in a concerted and serious crackdown on violators.
