Yifang Digital Releases Tablet PC

Shenzhen-based consumer electronics manufacturer Yifang announced the launch of a new product line including tablet PCs and digital pens in Beijing yesterday, and began signing sales deals with partners around the country. Beijing Yifang GM Xiao Peng said that the company's new tablet PC was being positioned for the governmental and business markets, while its more entertainment-oriented offerings were half the price of Apple's iPad. Xiao said that the new "dual-mode input tablet PC" could display notes recorded on digital pens in real time on the tablet PC's screen.
Yifang announced roughly ten new products in all, including 7" to 10" tablet PCs running the Android operating system and featuring 3G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity as well as motion sensors. The dual-mode input tablet is priced at over RMB 3,000. Xiao said that the company signed RMB 30 mln worth of sales contracts for the devices on the first day.
Yifang selected 3G portal 3G.cn as its partner. 3G.cn VP Cao Ming said that the company planned to port the top international productivity and game applications to the Yifang devices.
At present, Yifang has sales revenues for the year of about RMB 2 bln, mostly coming from tablet PCs, digital pens, mobile televisions, and other high-tech devices. Yifang plans to list on the domestic GEM board in 2011.
