Hangzhou Supermarket Chain Launches B2C Site
Hangzhou Business, 11/30/10
Hangzhou-based supermarket chain Lianhua Huashang Group recently launched its e-commerce site, Lhgw.com.cn.
Wu Mingang, head of Lhgw.com.cn, said that Lianhua Huasheng Group has 193 retail locations in 10 counties in Zhejiang province, serving more than 3.5 mln customers. The website is primarily aimed at customers in their 20s and 30s.
The site offers approximately 10,000 products in ten categories, including food and beverages, cosmetics, and childcare products at prices below those in Lianhua's brick-and-mortar stores. The website will offer two payment methods: bank card payments and payment upon delivery either with cash, bank card, or a Lianhua customer card, as delivery staff will carry mobile POS readers.
Wu added that Lianhua is in discussions with a number of delivery companies and expects to deliver province-wide by next month. Delivery is currently available for orders of RMB 30 or more, with free delivery for purchases exceeding RMB 100.
Lhgw.com.cn has been in beta testing since June and already has more than 50,000 registered users with the average order reaching more than RMB 200.
