Rumor: Koei Terminates Operation Contract with Choei
DoNews, 11/28/10
Nobunaga's Ambition Online (NAO) and Uncharted Waters, operated by Chinese game operator Choei Net-Tech, have both gone offline following the termination of operating contracts by Koei, the Japanese developer.
On November 26, a post appeared online explaining that Choei Net-tech had been in negotiations with Koei ever since the game developer had ceased supplying the operator with subscription cards and point cards for the games. On November 26, 2010, at 4:00 pm, Koei had "officially refused proposals" made by Choei Net-tech, forcing the company to discontinue operations of the two games. The decision by Koei was prompted by "changes in leadership and strategic thinking" which may lead to the company's withdrawal from the Chinese market. The post also claimed Choei Net-tech may have to shut down.
The moderator of the game forum for NAO published a post on November 26, at 5:00 pm, stating Choei Net-tech had informed all employees that the company was closing, and that NAO and Uncharted Waters would cease operations the same day at 5:15 pm.
