Rumor: KongZhong to Release New 3D MMO

An industry source has revealed that wireless value-added service provider, WAP portal operator, and online game developer and operator KongZhong (Nasdaq: KONG) will soon unveil "Kungfu Hero," a 3D MMORPG developed by an international team. The source reported that while speaking at an internal meeting, president Yang Zhen predicted that in 2011, the game would be one of China's top 3 most popular 3D online games, and would account for at least 50% of the company's online game revenues.
According to the source, the development team of Kungfu Hero is composed of Chinese, Korean and American gaming professionals. The American creative director of the team is said to have participated in the development of Beach Volleyball Online, Excalibur Online, Asheron's Call, Age of Conan, and other online games.
A source at KongZhong confirmed that Kungfu Hero would be the key game in the company's product line for 2011, and revealed plans to export the game overseas, expanding upon the company's experience with exporting 3D MMORPG "Loong" to over 60 countries and regions worldwide.
In the second half of this year, KongZhong has already spent USD 12.9 mln on developing the game.
