Etao Incorporates Sogou Search Results

Sohu IT, 10/29/10

Chinese B2C and C2C e-commerce company Taobao's new search engine ETao (www.etao.com) has formed a partnership with internet company Sohu's (Nasdaq: SOHU) search engine Sogou. Search results on ETao now offer users the options of viewing Sogou's results for the same query.

ETao first launched with search technology from Microsoft's Bing search engine.

Taobao said that in order to provide a better search experience for its users, and to more closely cater to their search habits, ETao would make use of both Bing and Sogou results: when users input a search query, they can select a default search engine to use, and they can switch back and forth between the two search engines at any time. ETao will dynamically switch between results from the two engines depending on the quality of the search results.
