Kylin Seeks CFO
Tencent Tech, 10/23/10
Shang Jin, CEO of Beijing-based online game developer and operator Kylin Network Information Science and Technology, has announced that the company is actively seeking a CFO. No revelations were made concerning when the company might go public.
On the product side, Kylin plans to become more deeply involved in certain sub-sectors of its current market focus, such as turn-based 3D online games, but for the time being will not stray from the general MMO game category. Likewise, Shang expressed that the company did not currently have plans to develop a first-person shooter (FPS) game.
At present, Kylin's second self-developed title, "Liaozhai," is undergoing alpha testing, and will begin limited closed-beta testing in November.
Shang further commented on the game import quotas in Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries by stating that adaptable companies can achieve success, even against a background of protectionist policies, and that Kylin had no intention of giving up on the Vietnamese market. With regards to the North American Market, Shang revealed that Kylin had already completed work on an English version of one of its games. However, he asserted that Kylin would proceed carefully for fear that a "bubble" was forming during this early period of Chinese game exports to the region.
