CCID, 10/12/10

Chinese telecom equipment manufacturer Huawei entered the mobile app store market yesterday, according to PC World, launching its own platform, "Huawei Digital Shopping Mall (DSM)", as well as making the store available to global mobile operators. The app store boasts 80,000 mobile applications as well as mobile music, videos and literature content. George Huang, VP of Huawei's software division, said the app store is the latest of the solutions Huawei offers operators, allowing them to release applications on Huawei's platform. Huawei Digital Shopping Mall splits revenue 70/30 between developers and operators, and can be accessed via computers, handsets, tablets such as the iPad, e-readers, TV sets and other devices. So far, no operator has announced it will use the platform.
