MIIT Completes ICP Registration System Upgrades
xinmin.cn, 8/20/10
China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) recently issued a notice announcing that it has completed upgrades to its website registration system. The registration system website (http://www.miibeian.gov.cn) ceased accepting new website registration applications from the initial announcement of upgrades on June 19 until July 25, though it continued to provide system inquiry service.
Website administrators no longer need to log in to the MIIT website in order to register, and can now submit their applications via any ISP using the new system and receive an ICP license once their application has been reviewed and approved by local authorities.
Chinese internet infrastructure provider HiChina, a subsidiary of Alibaba.com (1688.HK), has revealed that the new system has already been online for two weeks and processed 14,000 new registrations. VP Song Yingqiao said HiChina added 30 more registration evaluation personnel during the transition period, and the existing team of 70 can handle current demand.
