iPad Approved by China Quality Certification Centre

According to the official website of the China Quality Certification Centre (CQC), the Apple iPad, manufactured by Shenzhen-based Foxconn (2038.HK; 2354.TW) subsidiary Futaihua Precision Electronics, received approval from the CQC on August 2. The product's CCC certification number, 2010010902422273, will remain valid until August 2, 2015.
Earlier media reports had said that the iPad and iPhone 4 would both go on sale in the mainland China market on September 1, in partnership with China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH). While Unicom has not officially confirmed the reports, senior Unicom executives have publicly confirmed on multiple occasions that the company was in talks with Apple regarding both products, and that a China release was only a matter of time.
Other reports said that Unicom has already issued iPads to each executive at the deputy GM level or higher in order to better acquaint them with the functionality and advantages afforded by the iPad.
