Rumor: China Mobile 4th Round TD-SCDMA Bidding Unfinished
Communications Weekly, 7/30/10
China Mobile's (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) previously announced TD-SCDMA fourth-round bidding results reportedly comprised only 70% of the 760,000 carrier-sectors in total procurement orders, with the remaining 30% to be allocated by provincial operators, according to a source at one telecom equipment vendor. In a meeting last night, provincial operators submitted their vendor selections to China Mobile, which could change the final market share break down.
The market share breakdown of the initial 70% of the total procurement was as follows: Huawei with 29% share of contracts; ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ) with 23%, Datang Mobile with 18%, Guangzhou New Postcom with 7%, Fiberhome (600498.SH) with 6%, Ericsson with 6%, Nokia Siemens Networks with 6%, and China Potevio with 5%.
