Shanda Literature Launches E-Reader

At the 8th Annual China Digital Entertainment Expo and Conference (ChinaJoy) in Shanghai today, Shanda Literature announced its Bambook e-reader device, marking the company's entry into the e-reader industry.

Shanda Literature said that the Bambook would feature seamless integration with the company's "Library in the Cloud" service.

According to the announcement, the Bambook will feature a 6-inch e-ink display with a resolution of 800x600x16 shades of grey, with extensibility through an ExpressCard port affording mobile internet access through the addition of a mobile data card. The reader also features a high-performance battery enabling up to 24 days of standby. The Bambook is also the world's first e-reader to support solar recharging.

Shanda Literature also announced that the official website for the Bambook would go online at noon on August 9, at which time the company would also begin trial sales of devices and books.
