Netease Tech, 7/28/10
At the 8th Annual China Digital Entertainment Expo and Conference (ChinaJoy) in Shanghai today, Giant Interactive (NYSE: GA) president Liu Wei said that Giant's self-developed MMORPG ZT Online II will be extremely important to the company during the second half of this year and next year. Liu also referred to another major game that the company will be operating, saying that the name of the product wasn't yet certain, but that it would be released to the public next year. Giant has also formed a team to research iPad game development. The company has established eight R&D subsidiaries since last year.
Liu said that operations of MMORPG Green ZT, which Giant released last year, are going smoothly, with PCU counts of over 460,000 players. He added that to date, MMORPG ZT Online has been released overseas in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Russia, and is performing particularly well in Vietnam. Liu also said the company's self-developed medieval strategy browser game The Golden Land has been released to Taiwan, Japan, and Brazil, and is doing particularly well in Taiwan. Export and internationalization work on the company's other games, including its self-developed MMORPG Giant Online, is ongoing.
