Google China Announces New Service Structure

Sina Tech, 7/20/10

In a posting on its official China blog today, Google announced its new structure for services in China. Under the new structure, Google.cn will continue to provide shopping, music, and translation services, while its hot keywords ("rebang") and life ("shenghuo") services will be closed due to lack of user interest. Most other Google services will continue to be available at Google.com.hk.

Google also announced that it will terminate technical support for Chinese online community Tianya's "Laiba" community and "Wenda" Q&A services this week, but said that Google will operate its own Q&A product in China in the future.

Google confirmed that its Maps service is still accessible through ditu.google.cn, and said that it continues to investigate the recently released regulations on online mapping, but that no further news was available for release.
