Mobile Portal 3G.cn Wins 3rd-Round Funding

Guangzhou-based mobile internet portal 3G.cn announced in Beijing today that it has won a third round of funding led by China Broadband Capital Partners, with investment from JAFCO Asia, WI Harper, and IDGVC, following which China Broadband Capital Partners chairman Edward Tian will become a board member of 3G.cn. According to industry sources, funding from the round ranked in the tens of millions of USD.
3G.cn CEO Deng Yuqiang said that following the investment, 3G.cn will launch its "platform" strategy. On top of its advertising business, 3G.cn will gradually increase fee-based services, spanning the four platforms of mobile reading, music, video, and games. 3G.cn had previously already launched over 10 mobile games, earning over RMB 1 mln in monthly revenue per game.
Editor's Note: In a separate report, Sohu IT quoted 3G.cn president Zhang Xiangdong as saying that the company will launch an IPO plan at the end of this year or early next year.
