Rumor: China Mobile May End E-Reader Subsidies

Caijing.com, 6/28/10

According to industry sources, China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) may cancel e-reader hardware terminal subsidies. So far hundreds of thousands of units have been sold, but China Mobile reportedly believes that the subsidies have little value in helping to expand its e-reader market.

Meng Qingjun, VP and head of sales for Chinese e-reader device maker Hanvon (002362.SZ), denied the rumor and stated that Hanvon has received no information regarding these reports.
