Zhuaxia Founder Reveals Sale to Douban, New Project
DoNews, 5/25/10
Xu Yirong, founder of Chinese RSS reader service Zhuaxia.com, revealed that he sold Zhuaxia to Chinese arts and literature review SNS Douban in the first half of 2009, and that he is now working on a social shopping site for women's products.
Xu revealed that Douban plans to integrate Zhuaxia with its own RSS reader, 9dian, in the future. Xu did not reveal the price Douban paid for Zhuaxia.
Xu said he had personally not taken up other work since the sale of Zhuaxia, and that work on the new women's shopping site began in March 2010. Funds for the new project came from its own founders, rather than from any investment funds. The site, which has more than ten employees, is currently undergoing closed testing.
Editor's Note: According to a separate report from Sina Tech, Xu revealed that his new project is Meilishuo.com, an online fashion community. The site officially describes itself as a "place to help girls shop online." Pages from the site's internal test show that it offers microblog-like interactive features: users follow other users, share favorites, and help others answer questions.
