China's 2009 TV Ad Revenue Up 11% YoY

In its 2010 China Radio, Film and Television Development Report released today, China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) Development and Research Center reported that total national annual revenue for the radio, film and TV industries reached RMB 195.95 bln in 2009, up 17.53% YoY. Of the total, RMB 185.29 bln was from radio and TV, up 17.06% YoY.

China's radio and TV advertising market grew steadily, with total radio and TV ad revenue reaching RMB 78.18 bln, up RMB 8 bln or 11.4% YoY. TV advertising revenue reached RMB 67.58 bln, up RMB 6.67 bln or 10.94% YoY. Revenue from cable TV networks grew significantly, reaching RMB 41.88 bln for 2009, up RMB 4.93 bln or 13.36% YoY. This included RMB 28.46 bln in subscription fees, up RMB 3.46 bln or 13.82% YoY.
