Hudong Announces Media Partnership Strategy

Wu Yanpeng, VP of Chinese wiki-based encyclopedia Hudong, has announced that the site will pursue a "word media" promotional strategy, while using advertising and union business models to generate revenues.
Wu said the new strategy does not involve any monetary exchanges, but will see cooperation with online media partners by means of content exchange. For example, Hudong would provide media platforms such as Xinhua News Agency with free content explaining a specific term or reference, while Hudong would receive free promotion in return.
Wu added that Hudong established a 20-plus advertising sales team last month, and that in addition to raising revenues through ad sales, Hudong will establish a keyword-based advertising network of small to mid-sized websites, though Wu would not disclose specifics on revenue share.
According to official statistics, Hudong has 5 mln entries consisting of 4.9 bln characters and 5 mln images. Hudong has over 500 media partners including newspapers, magazines, radio, social networks, e-commerce websites, mobile newspapers and online literature content providers.
