NetQin Lands USD 20 Mln in Third-Round Funding

Chinese handset security firm NetQin has officially announced a third round of venture capital funding worth USD 20 mln, for a total of USD 35 mln in funding to date.
Lin Yu, CEO of NetQin, said that following this successful round of funding, NetQin will continue to expand its handset security business, and build a "cloud security" platform to provide advanced anti-virus, anti-harassment and privacy protection services. The company also plans to expand in overseas markets, aiming to become the world's biggest mobile security service company within five years.
To date, NetQin has received VC funding from GSR Ventures, Sequoia China, Ceyuan Ventures, and Fidelity Asia. A spokesperson at GSR said that since receiving funding in 2007, NetQin has grown its customer base from 1 mln to 43 mln, a figure that may be set to break 100 mln this year.
