Hanvon, China Mobile to Launch 3G E-Reader
Sohu IT, 4/21/10
Liu Yingjian, chairman of Chinese e-reader vendor Hanvon Technology (002362.SZ), said recently that Hanvon's sales revenue is expected to increase to RMB 1 bln in 2010, compared to RMB 200 mln last year.
Liu disclosed the latest developments in Hanvon's cooperation with China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) on a 3G e-reader in a recent interview, stating that the partnership has already made significant progress, and that China Mobile plans to announce its e-reader policy in the near future. The jointly developed 3G e-reader will begin rolling out on the domestic market this month, and will be available nationwide in two to three months. Users, however, will download e-books from China Mobile's own mobile literature platform rather than Hanvon's. Liu had no comment on Hanvon's plans to cooperate with other telecom operators.
