Kingsoft Denies Disbanding Game Studio
Duowan, 4/07/10
Chinese online gaming company Kingsoft (3888.HK) has officially denied rumors that it plans to dissolve gaming developer subsidiary Liehuo Studios. A Kingsoft representative said the company is currently conducting internal testing of MMORPG The First Myth III, and denied rumors that Kingsoft plans to axe five projects, including two international versions of The First Myth II, a free-to-play version of JX Online 3, and Fengshen Zhengba, stating that those projects did not exist in the first place.
The Kingsoft representative said Liehuo Studios would see some upcoming changes, which will be announced in early May, but could not reveal specific plans as of yet.
Editor's Note: An earlier report from DoNews stated that Kingsoft called an urgent meeting on April 6 at which it announced that it would disband Liehuo Studios. The report said employees at Liehuo have three options: transfer to Kingsoft’s Xishanju Workshop in Zhuhai, stay in Beijing and accept Kingsoft’s own arrangements, or resign. The report said it is unclear whether Liu Yujun, former head of Liehuo, will stay or leave.
