Netease Restructures Portal Business

Chinese internet company Netease (Nasdaq: NTES) has begun adjustments to its web portal business. Fang Sanwen, former Netease executive VP, has stepped down, and the company will make according and additional adjustments to staffing and service structuring.
A source inside the company revealed that former Netease News director Tang Yan and former Netease Women director Zhao Ying will be promoted to deputy chief editors responsible for Netease's portal News and Products content divisions respectively. Deputy chief editor Zhang Rui will be responsible for overseeing user-generated content (UGC).
News content for Netease's portal will be split off from its product content. The former Tech channel of Netease Technology will be merged with Netease's Finance channel, and Netease's News, Sports, and Entertainment sections will all be managed by Tang Yan as news content. The remaining 3G, Mobile Phones, and 3C channels under Netease Technology will be merged into the 3C channel, which along with Autos, Real Estate, and Women, will be managed by Zhao Ying as Netease Products content.
