Rumor: UTStarcom to Shift to IPTV and Broadband Business

An informed source has revealed that Chinese telecom equipment maker UTStarcom (Nasdaq: UTSI) has begun a full-scale shift towards IPTV and broadband services in the China, India, and Japan markets, with other departments to be reorganized. In his first meeting with employees after an earlier restructuring, UTStarcom CEO Jack Lu said that the company would step up efforts to introduce DTV in Beijing, with the goal of helping make the capital a model for nationwide informatization efforts.
