CNNIC Forbids Personal Registration of Domain Names

CCID, 12/14/09

The China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) has issued a statement that starting at 9:00 AM on December 14, users will be unable to register .CN domain names without a written application. CNNIC also announced that it will halt all registration of domain names by individual users.

CNNIC said in the statement that users will be required to provide written applications - including a domain registration form stamped with their company seal, a copy of their company's license or of their organization's ID code, and a copy of the applicant's state-issued photo ID - when registering online through a domain registrar.
